High School Speak-Off Competition

The RCD is hosting a competition for high school students who want to speak out about conservation. Speak-Off is a state-wide competition, with students across California participating. Regional competitions are held in the fall. The top three students at the regional level will receive a cash prize, and the first place winner from each region will compete at the annual California Association of Conservation Districts in November, which will be hosted in San Diego in 2018. The state Speak-Off winners will receive: $300 (1st place), $200 (2nd place), and $100 (3rd place).

The 2018 Speak-Off topic is: "How can RCDs help landowners reduce the threat of fires?” Students will be invited to prepare a three to five minute speech on this theme to present to local and regional conservation leaders via video.
