SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BAJA REGION OF RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICTS

2014 Meeting
The meeting was held on March 26, 2014 at the Coachella Valley Resource Conservation District.
The day began with a Coachella Valley Crop Talk by Jose Luis Aguiar, UC Extension Agent.
Next the group toured the Hakan Farm which grows organic dates, and raises sheep, and polo horses. Then the tour took us to the Kono Farm to see their pepper production.

At the business meeting Jenny Di Stefano from the Department of Conservation, and Nadine L. Scott, Southern California Baja Area Chair & Attorney at Law presented, “Debunking Common RCD Myths – How to Ensure Your RCD is the Best it can be."

2013 Meeting
This year’s meeting was held at the Imperial Irrigation Water District where we toured the mud pots and agricultural/habitat land near the Salton Sea. A short video of the tour’s bubbling hot mud pots and burrowing owls made an excellent presentation at CARCD’s Legislative Days.

Thirteen people attended including RCD staff, Boards of Directors, and our long time partners the Natural Resources Conservation Service personnel. The following RCDs were represented: Coachella, Imperial Irrigation, Palo Verde, RCD of Greater San Diego (chair), and Upper San Luis Rey.
