Prescribed Grazing
As part of a California Department of Food and Agriculture Healthy Soils Demonstration Grant, Certified Range Manager Liz Kellogg drafted a Grazing Management Plan for Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve. The plan directs the implementation of prescribed grazing at separate pastures throughout the ranch in order to reduce noxious weeds, build soil organic matter for drought resilience and enhance habitat for protected species like the Burrowing Owl.
